Art Journal

The students will be working in their Art Journals tomorrow. Their Art Journals are meant to be a means of expressing themselves and what they have learned in the vaious subject areas. The Journals go with them into Grade 6. Today in Bible we were talking as a class about Faith Boosters. This can best be described as a time in their life where they have seen God working and they have grown in their faith or their faith has been "boosted." I was impressed by what students shared. They mentioned times they felt protected by God, times their prayers were answered, and even how they grew in faith when their prayers were not answered the way they wanted. I was very moved and touched by the experiences they shared and what some of these children have learned about faith in their early lives. Therefore, we will be using this to journal in our Art Journals tomorrow. Students will need to come prepared with an experience in which they grew in their faith ("faith booster"). They will be required to write about it in their Art Journal and then create an illustration to go along with it. I told the students that they may bring a photo from home to include if it fits. For example, if their faith booster was - the passing of someone special, they may bring a photo of that person or a picture of them with that special person. These photos will then be part of their Art Journals, so please send a duplicate if you only have one of that specific photo. The students may also bring special/fancy paper to write on or to use as a background to their picture/illustration that can then be glued into their Art Journal. Thanks for your help with this project. Sorry for the short notice - I just couldn't resist acting on this teachable moment and want to ensure that the students can capture some of these faith boosters to remember for years down the road.
Blessings,
Mrs. Lockhart
